How to Use

  1. Add 50-100ml of Hot Oil Shine to 5 litres of warm water.
  2. Mix gently. The oil will naturally sit within the water rather than fully dissolve. This is normal and forms part of the traditional hot oil ragging process.
  3. Submerge a sponge or grooming cloth into the solution.
  4. Wring out excess liquid and wipe evenly across the coat.
  5. Allow the coat to dry naturally.
  6. Once dry, groom thoroughly to remove loosened dust, scurf, dead hair and debris.
  7. Apply Trot To Tail to the mane and tail.
  8. Work through using fingers or a brush before grooming as normal.

Traditional Groom's Tip: Hot oil ragging is often performed the day before competitions to allow the coat time to fully settle and develop its natural shine.

Clipping Season Tip: Newly clipped coats often benefit particularly well from hot oil treatments as clipping can leave the coat looking flat and dry.

Tail Care Tip: Consistent detangling often results in better tail growth retention than aggressive brushing of dry, knotted hair.

Ingredients

Hot Oil Shine focuses on coat condition. Natural fatty acids including linoleic acid, oleic acid, palmitic acid and stearic acid help support softness, flexibility and shine throughout the coat.

The traditional hot oil method is what makes this product special. Warm water acts as a carrier, helping distribute tiny amounts of conditioning oil evenly across the coat. This creates a fine, consistent application that would be difficult to achieve by applying oil directly.

Coat conditioning oils help smooth the hair shaft, improve light reflection and support a healthy natural shine without excessive greasiness.

Trot To Tail helps reduce tangles, improve brushability and support healthier-looking mane and tail hair by reducing unnecessary breakage during grooming.

Conditioning agents help improve slip between hair fibres, making knots easier to remove and daily grooming more manageable.

The strength of this bundle comes from addressing both major aspects of presentation. Hot Oil Shine conditions the coat. Trot To Tail manages the mane and tail. Together they help create the polished, well-presented appearance associated with exceptional grooming.

FAQ

What is hot oil ragging?

Hot oil ragging is a traditional grooming technique where conditioning oils are diluted into warm water and applied using a cloth or sponge. It remains one of the most effective methods for improving coat condition and natural shine.

How do I make my horse's coat shiny?

The best shine usually comes from coat condition rather than surface products alone. Consistent grooming, good nutrition, coat conditioning and traditional hot oil treatments all play a role.

Why do professional grooms use hot oil treatments?

Hot oil treatments help improve coat condition, support natural shine and often make dust, scurf and loose hair easier to remove during grooming.

Are hot oil treatments good for clipped horses?

Yes. Many owners use hot oil treatments after clipping because clipped coats can sometimes appear dry, dull or lacking natural depth.

Can hot oil treatments help remove dust and scurf?

Many owners find that dirt, dust, dead hair and scurf become easier to brush away following treatment, helping reveal a cleaner and shinier coat underneath.

What is the best detangler for horse tails?

Most owners look for products that improve slip, reduce knots and minimise unnecessary breakage during brushing.

Why does my horse's tail keep breaking?

Dry hair, excessive brushing, mud, tangles and poor grooming practices can all contribute to tail breakage and loss of tail volume.

Can I use this bundle before a show?

Absolutely. This bundle was designed with show preparation, sales preparation and competition grooming in mind.

What should I use with this bundle for white or grey horses?

Many owners use Purple Shampoo before hot oil treatments to help maximise coat brightness and presentation.

What makes Showstopper different?

Most shine products focus on surface gloss. Showstopper focuses on the underlying condition of both the coat and the hair. Better condition generally leads to better shine, easier grooming and a more polished overall appearance.

Showstopper Condition, Detangle & Shine Bundle combines Hot Oil Shine Horse Coat Treatment and Trot To Tail Mane & Tail Detangler into one complete grooming system designed to help horses look, feel and perform at their best in the stable, at competitions and in everyday life.

If you've ever admired a horse with a deep, healthy shine, a flowing tail and a beautifully conditioned coat, there's a good chance you're looking at the result of good grooming rather than simply good genetics.

Many horse owners spend years searching for a miracle shine spray when the real secret has been used by experienced grooms for generations: condition the coat properly first.

That's exactly why we've combined these two products.

Hot Oil Shine brings one of the equestrian world's oldest grooming secrets into a modern, easy-to-use format. Designed specifically for hot oil treatments and hot oil ragging, it uses warm water as a carrier to distribute conditioning oils evenly throughout the coat. The result is a natural-looking shine, improved coat condition and a healthier appearance without the heavy greasy finish often associated with traditional coat oils.

Many owners notice an additional benefit after hot oil treatments. Dirt, dead hair, scurf and dust often become easier to lift from the coat during subsequent grooming. This is one reason hot oil ragging has remained a favourite technique amongst professional grooms preparing horses for sales, photography, competitions and the show ring.

Trot To Tail focuses on the other half of presentation: the mane and tail. Daily grooming, mud, rugs, stable life and turnout can leave hair dry, tangled and difficult to manage. Trot To Tail helps reduce knots, improve manageability and support smoother brushing whilst helping minimise unnecessary breakage.

Together these products address the two areas judges, buyers and fellow horse owners notice first: coat condition and hair quality.

This bundle is particularly popular during clipping season, competition preparation, sales preparation and throughout winter when coats can become dull, dry and difficult to manage.

Owners of grey, white and light-coloured horses often combine this bundle with Purple Shampoo to help maximise coat brightness before a hot oil treatment. Horses requiring a deeper pre-treatment cleanse are often washed with Tea Tree Shampoo before conditioning.

Whether you're preparing for a county show, clipping season, a sales video or simply want your horse looking its absolute best, Showstopper brings together two grooming products designed to help create the healthy shine, flowing tail and polished finish every horse owner strives for.
